Riassunto: This retrospective of postcards from Worcester, Massachusetts, ca. 1905-1920, contains nearly 200 full-color views, including Main Street, churches, colleges, parks, and more.
L'autore: Except for six years in New York City, Nan Lyell has lived in Worcester her entire life. She is a freelance writer and photographer, and an avid historian and collector of postcards. Her publications include NONQUITT, A Summer Album, 1872-1985, which won a nationally recognized commendation for excellence from the American Association of State and Local History. For 13 years Nan was tennis editor and Sunday columnist for the Worcester Telegram. In 1981, she was named Tennis Writer of the Year by the New England Lawn Tennis Association. Nan's photo of the circular staircase at Salisbury House, which appeared in Preservation Worcester's Architectural Images III, won the Shearson Lehman Prize for Best Photograph of a National Register building.
