For 13 years Nan was tennis editor and Sunday columnist for the Worcester Telegram. In 1981, she was named Tennis Writer of the Year by the New England Lawn Tennis Association. Nan's photo of the circular staircase at Salisbury House, which appeared in Preservation Worcester's Architectural Images III, won the Shearson Lehman Prize for Best Photograph of a National Register building.
