Riassunto: During the reign of America s first Black President and the continuation of the War on Terror, a post-menopausal Republican-Christian comedian/actor/realtor living in a small bungalow in Hollywood grapples with fear, prejudice, and the addictive chemistry of love when a Persian Muslim man, 22 years her junior, magically enters her orderly celibate life to change her forever.
Born in California in 1948, Juliet Montague is a confused, irrational, and insecure woman of her time. She lives alone with her two dogs; her beloved cat now in Cat Heaven after being attacked and maimed by a Hollywood opossum that Ms. Montague hunted down with a rubber mallet. Julie continues to light a scented candle and sit on her balcony waiting in vain for her last great romance while she writes the sequel to The Year I Learned to Text, tentatively entitled: Honeymoon in Yemen; Not Without My Dogs.
Dall'autore: Dear Readers, I first sat down to write The Year I Learned to Text in the dark, tears clouding my judgment, and wrote truth, no matter how foolish the heroine came across to you, the unknown stranger curled up on a couch or lying on a beach towel chest down, flipping the pages and screaming, "What in the hell is this woman doing to herself?" Always discovering the laughter in the universal tragedy, I continued on when no one wanted to hear me, when my sister and mother scoffed, when my children questioned my sanity. But the story must be told. There are sociopaths in this world. In fact, there are four in twenty of us without a conscience. And Muslim culture has developed more than its share. My novels are a warning: do not date, have sex with, and absolutely do not fall in love with a Muslim man. As Part Two of The Muslim Romance Trilogy-- Jihad Honeymoon in Hollywood; Not Without My Dogs--goes to print, the too recent memory of the Boston Marathon Jihad Bombers on April 15th, 2013, has brought my warning to the world. But are they listening? My hope is that my novels--I shall continue to stand firm that I write fantasies until the courtroom drama of the lawsuit against me hits the Internet--will find their way to loving, vulnerable women throughout this world and stop the cruelty! My hope is that they will laugh; they will cry; they will shake their fist at our heroine; and that they will never, ever fall for the charming Open Sesame line. Ah, so charming your very own Aladdin can be, especially when he is educated in the United States and driving a BMW--a leased Magic Lamp that he has not made a payment on for three months. Coming up in 2014: Part Three of The Muslim Romance Trilogy: The Arab Sprung While a Muslim Sleeps in the White House Be afraid. Be very afraid. Juliet
