Riassunto: This book is now published under the title 'Braffis Spin'.
Braffis Spin by Eartha Duquay is Metaphysical science fiction / An opaque autobiographical novel.
Books in the Braffis Spin Saga are: Book 1: Mountbreakday, Book 2: Neversell, Book 3: Fort Notcontest, Book 4: Drywell.
I wrote Braffis Spin, my real maiden name is F.M.McCarthy (Eartha Duquay is my pen name), I was born 1958, I am of Irish descent, and I am an Irish Citizen working away from home in London. Braffis Spin has a sci-fi bent and is my unique expression of events in my life.
Braffis Spin was previously published under the title 'The Zeta Waves' (March 20, 2007) and I wrote 'The Zeta Waves' during January - March 20, 2007, following my father's death, and seven years after my divorce and relocation from bustling London to an isolated rural English cottage.
The setting of Braffis Spin is the Planet Republic of Paland and the message is spiritual equality in a Utopian Society.
My parents separated when I was a child and I wrote about my own deceased father in Braffis Spin, how I felt about my Dad and how the trauma affected me when he left and when when I learned of his death.
.. Tide shouted at Spin. "I've had enough of you!" he continued harshly. "I'm leaving and I'm not coming back to this apartment!"....Spin was baffled... Running from the apartment into the foyer, Spin called after her Dad, only to see him slamming the heavy house door behind him. "Dad, when will I see you -?" - Mountbreakday, Chapter 12
.."Oh my, if my Dad was here I'd tell him everything," she thought happily. But an instant later, she remembered the traumatic reality. "Dad's not here," she considered anxiously..- Neversell, Chapter 4 ...Then she looked at the empty closet and at her two unpacked cases on the shiny, wooden floor.. .."Oh yes," she remembered. "Yesterday was the day of the wonderful Abovesallee! It was also the day that I lost my friend Mah, my father and my home. ... Without Dad, my whole life has been turned upside down! I doubt very much whether I will see my home ever again." - Neversell, Chapter 5
The many Requiems in Fort Notcontest are my Requiems to my Dad.
..She began to cry. Bending her head forward, she covered her face with her hands.. ..Spin faced Raine. She solemnly asked, "If you can't wayin... to someone you love... it means they have passed away. Doesn't it, Raine?"... ..."Do you want to wayin to someone?" Raine asked. "It's a terribly long way in Barbrhu," Spin explained. Spin concentrated on thoughts of her father. She remembered with gratitude everything he had given her and she thought proudly of his many achievements. As Tide's face became clearer and clearer in her mind's eye, his daughter, Spin, quickly fell into a deep purposeful sleep. Seconds later she opened her eyes. - Fort Notcontest, Chapter 1
"Dad!" Spin called quietly ..There's no coming back, Dad." - Fort Notcontest, Chapter 2
Drywell,The Braffis Spin Saga, Book 4: U.S. Edition is my own unique expression of how I felt lost for seven years, from the time I last spoke to my father on the telephone in 2000, advised he had recently had Triple Bypass Heart Surgery, to the time following his death when I wrote about him.
. . Clocks moved forward.. The light dwindled, the sky drifting over Paland glowed pink and peach. Paland's tide turned.. - Drywell, Chapter 2 ..Hugo paused and considered, "Spin has been left here alone. This is appallingly neglectful treatment. Fortunately for me, it means I don't even have to deal with her father.".. - Drywell, Chapter 6
.. "Oh, Mah, you have been lost for seven years!" Spin exclaimed. - Drywell, Chapter 10
Please Note: A completely revised Second Edition (2014) has replaced the First Edition (2007).
"Spin Stands is a Citizen of the Republic, as I am. Not kingdom born but free and equal with all men, we share common values. Spin is my friend and she is hopelessly always around. This is about her." - Mah Risenite (Central Book Character).
F.M.McCarthy writes about man versus nature, when one's environment becomes inhospitable and the argument whether to find a new home or to tough it out, is a mute one. Strength of Spirit is tested in this detailed descriptive novel, as the main passive character, Spin Stands (alias F.M.McCarthy) holds fast to her spiritual values throughout an inevitable ordeal of necessary change. This book is packed with symbolism. For example; the Wake-Ring worn on the head by all and used for 'wayin' throughout, is representative of an individual's same strength of spirit. Because the author gives us fiction based on fact, F.M.McCarthy has provided a new and different reading experience with this Hard science fiction/Opaque autobiographical novel. Witty, elegant and charming, packed with adventure, humor, ideas and heart, this is a book which will delight. An Arcticdoll Theme Park, worldwide celebrations, action packed competitions, fights with Antarcticwells, wayin experiences... they all await you! A must-read for any fans of the genre.
Key Players: Spin Stands, Mah Risenite and Blest Stepupard.
Settings: The planet Republic of Paland; an orbiting Theme Park full of Arcticdolls; and the planet Antarcticwell.
The work is divided into 7 Parts with symbolic names : Mountbreakday, Abovesallee, Neversell, Fort Notcontest, Drywell, Dyensell and Mustsell.
"Flytrust...understand the world and where we are...spectacular! Deep Revelation! Chaste!"
