A view Elevation Of The State House, ca. 45 x 59 cm, kleiner Einriss ausserhalb des Kartenbildes, Papier mit Wasserzeichen, small tear outside of the map image, Watermarked paper 1752 hatten die nordamerikanischen Kartographen Nicolas Scull und George Heap eine erste präzise Karte der Umgebung von Philadelphia herausgebracht. (=A Map of Philadelphoa and parts adjacent). Am 4. Juli 1776 wurde die Unabhängigkeit der U.S.A. in Philadelphia proklamiert. Die Karte von Scull und Heap wurde von vielen europäischen Kartenmachern kopiert, so auch im Jahr 1777 von William Faden in London. Diese Karte von Faden wurde ebenfalls 1777 vom Augsburger Verleger Matthäus Albrecht Lotter nachgestochen. Am unteren Blattrand eine Ansicht des State House wo die Unabhängigkeitserklärung verabschiedet worden war. Independence Hall. vgl. Ritter: Die Welt aus Augsburg. S. 134 In 1752, the North American cartographers Nicolas Scull and George Heap had issued a first precise map of the Philadelphia area. (=A Map of Philadelphoa and parts adjacent). On July 4, 1776, the independence of the United States was proclaimed in Philadelphia. The map of Scull and Heap has been copied by many European mapmakers. Also in 1777 by William Faden in London. This map of Faden was also engraved in 1777 by the Augsburger publisher Matthäus Albrecht Lotter.
