Gibbs, Jr. chaired the African and African American Studies Founding Committee at Stanford University in 1968 and was Stanford s first tenured African American professor. He served Stanford University s community for thirty years before retiring in January of 1997. The book is also signed by Dr. Gibbs on the front end paper.
