Near Fine minus hardcover with a light bump to the heel and a touch of handling wear in a Near Fine minus dust jacket with light toning, light wear at one tip and a short scratch to the front. Sam Haskins (1926-2009) is best know for a trilogy of books of female nudes published in the 1960s: Five Girls (1962), Cowboy Kate (1964, winner of the Prix Nadar), and November Girl (1967.) This is the second edition of Cowboy Kate, the first book by Haskins's own press and printed in gravure. SIGNED BY HASKINS. This copy, limited to 1500 numbered copies, has a bound-in page with a "Cowboy Kate" stamp; a "Limited Edition by Sam Haskins" stamp, signed and numbered #346 by Haskins; and a third stamp, "Approved," that has been initialed in red ink by Alida Elzabe van Heerden, Haskins' wife and business partner. Photographs by Sam Haskins; introduction by Norman Hall; text by Desmond Skirrow. Unpaginated [160 pages]; full-page and full-spread gravure-printed b&w plates; 11 x 14 inches.
