The Promyshlenniki were Russian Siberian contract workers (serfs and townsmen) already engaged in fur trade already at home, and in in Alaska by the 1790's. Along with with sailors, carpenters, and craftsmen they supported Russian trading operations in Alaska. Overtime, many intermarried with native Aleutians and struck down permanent roots. From our end, the gold rush of 1898 lured many who also loved sourdough. Hence the sub-title. Illustrated with maps and photos, the book is an in depth study of Alaska's historical past and its political and social standing with America at large half century ago. Fine copy despite qualifications. Codice articolo 007717
