Scarce travel guide with detailed sections on individual states, including Arizona, California, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Kansas, and others. One of a number of such guides published after the Civil War to provide emigrants with information on settling the West, Hall's guide was one of the most thorough with much practical information as well as descriptions of the growing towns in the Nevada territory.
