Brand New! Straight from Joe Carducci's warehouse. Multiple copies available. "SEA STORIES" is the fourth volume of screenplays written by Joe Carducci. During work on his film book, Stone Male, he noted how many early talkies were set in the South Seas. This had been a rough and suggestive genre that had the wind taken out of its sails by the Hayes Code of 1934. Carducci found his south sea story when family returned with stories of their own from the Philippines which together with his reading about Abu Sayyaf and Sulu pirates suggested Palawan Rose. While looking into the stories of Vikings in America Carducci came across the legend of a much earlier crossing undertaken by Saint Brendan of Ireland which yielded Terra Sanctorum, a comic parable of the missionary imperative in the early Church. Ley of the Pyrate is Carducci's attempt to reground the pirate tale in the age of slavery and enlightenment now that the Disney fantasies have run their course. Finally included is a figurative sailing story to a real new world, an earth-like planet orbiting the nearby star, Epsilon Indi. Other Carducci screenplay volumes (Crime Stories, Punk Stories.) are being prepared. Carducci is best known as the author of two books of music history, "Rock and the Pop Narcotic", and "Enter Naomi - SST, L.A. and All That.", and another on film history, "Stone Male - Requiem for The Living Picture", plus the collection, "Life Against Dementia - Essays, Reviews, Interviews 1975-2011".
