In addition there is a well-produced CD of model performances. Flexibility seems to be at the heart of Hunt's concept. The repertoire choice is enticingly varied . . . You can photocopy the pages, mix and match styles and parts or, given the spiral binding, even rip out songs you don't like - although I would be surprised if it came to that when OUP have produced such an excellent collection. I insisted on reviewing this compilation because I just had to have it for myself (reviewers get to keep the resource)! In Voiceworks at Christmas Peter Hunt provides refreshing singing material for adolescent singers in a classroom setting - I would also recommend it to the choral directors with youth and community choirs as the SATB works are very simple. The book includes a vast range of repertoire . . . There's a complete lesson/rehearsal plan for each song with tips and hints for warming up. The pages are photocopiable which is wonderful for limited resource budgets. Every song is performed brilliantly on the CD by a small group of singers - in tune, together and beautifully (without huge warbly vibratos the size of a minor third). The old and the new are combined to create this Christmas choral collection. A must for KS3 upwards at Crimbo! (Louisa Clethero, Zone Magazine Autumn 2004)
