Aelred Squire was born in London, educated at Oxford, and became a member of the Dominican Order after World War II. He served for eighteen years as a teacher, chiefly of theological students and religious. He was also a parish priest in Norway before becoming a Camaldolese Monk at the New Camaldoli Hermitage in California.
