This specific hardback book is in like new condition with a hard board cover that has sharp edges and corners and has a tight binding. The pages are clean, crisp, unmarked and uncreased. The dust jacket is in fine condition with little wear if any. We package all books in custom cardboard book boxes for shipment and ship daily with tracking numbers. ; "Excellent, I worked on many of the ships during my apprenticeship at KGV in the 50s at that time the Chusan had two modifications, the first stabilizers were fitted and also a new funnel top cowl was fitted. The cowl was fitted because previously the old design ,without the cowl would discharge lumps of soot and passengers would pick the soot up and rub it into their clothes and claim compensation from the shipping company. Myself and another apprentice fitted an over sized bath tub on the Rangitoto for Queen Solotie from Tonga , I believe her visit was for our Queens coronation. The company was then R & H Green and Silley Weir. It was a very interesting time in the 50s with the war not long finished and ship design was moving away from the utility design to the streamline model with raked back bridge instead of the vertical flat old styles.
