In 1924 Galka Scheyer brought the work of four fellow avant-garde artists from Germany to America. With tireless enthusiasm, she promoted the work of Lyonel Feininger, Alexej von Jawlensky, Wassily Kandinsky, and Paul Klee -- the "Blue Four" -- so-named to reflect their earlier association with the Blue Rider group (Der Blaue Reiter) of Munich Expressionists.
