“This book was written, for the most part, at 2 A.M.—that is the why of the name. Awakened at that hour nearly every night for more than a year, great bursts of light and revelation came through, and so I jotted them down. I thought you might like to browse through them—so many of them have proved workable.” The above excerpt from the Foreword of this book is the author’s warm and gracious invitation to share with him in the light and revelation these “jottings” have brought. He tells us that the book “took on a happy life” from the very beginning and that he found joy in being awakened at this hour, feeling the “laughter of God searching every part of the temple.” In his unique and sometimes humorous style, Walter Lanyon shares everyday experiences that, upon closer scrutiny, reveal spiritual truths if we are willing to “look again.” As in all of his books, the author asks us to accept these spiritual truths and principles as active here and now, emphasizing that God “is” —not “was” or “will be.” We are shown how to put off the rags of human thinking and open consciousness to these principles of Truth. We put on the “garments of Light,” our “sky robes,” and soar on eagle’s wings. “I hope some of the joy I had in writing it permeates your mind and makes the sunrise a little more glamorous.” —W.C.L.

Walter Lanyon was highly respected as a spiritual teacher of Truth. He traveled and lectured to capacity crowds all over the world, basing his lectures, as he said, “solely on the revelation of Jesus Christ.” At one point, he underwent a profound spiritual awakening, in which he felt “plain dumb with the wonder of the revelation.” This enlightening experi-ence “was enough to change everything in my life and open the doors of the heaven that Jesus spoke of as here and now. I know what it was. I lost my personality; it fell off of me like an old rag. It just wasn’t the same anymore.” His prolific writings continue to be sought out for their timeless message, put forth in a simple, direct manner, and they have much to offer serious spiritual seekers. Walter Clemow Lanyon was born in the U.S. on October 27, 1887, and he passed away in California on July 4, 1967.
