Rowan Walker was born in Huddersfield and has lived, worked and watched football in Spain, India, Nigeria, Italy, Brazil and France. Although never selected to play for a team, she was asked to be a goalpost for the boys' team at school. She currently works at the Observer and also contributes to the guardian.co.uk arts and entertainment site.
