The name: Miss Lillian Burke appears throughout these 183 pages as one of the organizers of this local craft industry. She helped take it from an Acadian household article of utility, to an international art object. The book completes with one appendix of approx 20 pages of colour photographs of rugs and their makers. LEARN more about : hookeuses, Mrs. Cormier et Deveau, stamping and the difference between defaisures and breillons. Most photographs are in b/w and a few b/w drawings give `how-to ' details. Cond : " Paper wrapper is white with black lettering. Front cover illustration is of a rug now displayed at Les Trois Pignons which was done by Elizabeth Lefort - circa 1985. It features two ships and a horse-logger.Very light general wear. No tears nor marks, although a p/o name appears on the title page. Excellent collectible reference ! Quote (p. 50) : " ._._. cut into strips and then braided, each colour of a different width.These strands had to be sewn in spiral fashion and much skill was reqyuired so that the rug which was thus constructed would lay flat on the floor.
