Descrizione libro Soft cover. Condizione: Working Copy. First Edition. 1992. viii, 126pp. "The Scottish Gaelic ballad 'Am Bron Binn' (The Sweet, or Melodious, Sorrow) represents a remarkable survival to the present day of an Arthurian work which has circulated in oral tradition in the Higlands and Islands of Scotland for well over 200 years. It tells of Gawain's quest for a beautiful girl who (in different versions) has either visited Arthur and harped him to sleep, or has appeared to the King in a dream. . All the 31 texts and fragments it has been possible to trace, including material in private collections, are discussed, beginning with a complete list of all known manuscripts, recordings and published editions. . This is followed by biographical notes on the singers and reciters, most of whom can be identified from genealogical records and local tradition. An unusal personal and social dimentsion is thus added to Arthurian research.". AFFECTED BY RECENT FLOOD a working copy. Price has been reduced accordingly. Codice articolo Gaelic496
