A. D. Angus - BSc (Hons), CQSW, PGCE, Dip.App.SS, MIfL & Anna Brailsford MA (Hons), MSc. AssessForCare - an organisation characterised by its expertise in teaching how to apply safeguarding best practice; public law; risk management and intelligent commissioning. Thirty years experience across Health & Social Care management; education and organisational improvement, the author started as a social worker in child protection. In the 90's she created educational access for over 350 mental health service users. She then developed Older People's Mental Health Services and quickly gained a reputation for improving organisational performance. Subsequently she has led on Adult Services Learning Strategies, developing organisations post and during abuse investigations. She now has the role of a Safeguarding Adults Consultant and is a Chief Executive. She has advised many national authorities, trusts and PCTs, particularly where systems and skills failures have caused human fatalities. It has been this particular role that has sealed her interest in safeguarding and lawful accountability. Deborah is an Executive Director of the Open College Network (South East); she has served 4 years as an Executive Director of the Social Care Association; was a Quality Assessor and Judge for the Health & Social Care Awards, and remains a UK Ambassador for the National Training Awards. Anna Brailsford MA (Hons), MSc, formerly the Commissioning Editor for AssessForCare has collaborated with Deborah on a many writing projects forging a unique, creative and academic partnership. This has included the production of various academic articles in industry journals; work on several shared texts, and nationally commissioned government projects. Anna's work has aimed to place compassion and reality at the core of skills application within this challenging and complex area of work.
