This is an invaluable book if you're interested in reducing the ever-increasing global demand for air-conditioning and everyone engaged in delivering the built environment should be. The principles of downdraught cooling are centuries old, but, as this 'design sourcebook' makes clear, their application in a contemporary context requires cutting edge software and an alliance between the architect and the engineer. The results of such alliances are analysed in useful detail in a series of case study buildings, the best of which amply demonstrate the aesthetic as well as the carbon-reducing potential of this elegant approach.
