Recensione:

'Releasing in March, Sex and Horror exhibits dozens of the artist's incredible paintings, while discussing the maestro's otherworldly techniques. Back in the 1970's, some of these books were banished from newsstands in Taglietti's homeland by outraged censors. In reality, these moral crusaders probably wanted to keep the comics for themselves.' - Bizarre

'The work of one of the leading fumetti cover artists, Emanuele Taglietti, remains highly collectable and has been brought together for the first time in the book Sex and Horror, providing a long-overdue look at this forgotten genre.'-Fiesta

'...fascinating glimpses of a little-documented and long-since abandoned seam of horror.' - SFX

'Artist Emanuele Taglietti is one of the most celebrated masters to emerge from that unique period in 1970 s Italy, when morale shifted and the popular fumetti (Italian comic books, literally translated as 'puffs of smoke', an allusion to speech bubbles) followed more liberal strains of genre cinema and more overt, explicit sexuality was visualized on their covers. Tagleitti, a former set designer who had worked with Fellini, jumped on this, exploiting the comforts of working from home by becoming a full-fledged cover illustrator, nurturing a style that was sensual, lurid, saturated and bristling with energy.' --Fangoria.com

"...fascinating glimpses of a little-documented and long-since abandoned seam of horror." - Starburst

&quotThere are more vampires, ghouls, secret agents, mafiosi, devils, freaks, bad guys, cops, monsters and maniacs in Emanuele Taglietti's Sex and Horror: the art of Emanuele Taglietti than you could shake a zombie's severed arm at. There's a fair bit of gratuitous, not say salacious, nudity as well." - -- The Erotic Review

'This is one of the most beautiful comic art books I have ever seen. It is a nice, thick book clocking in at 160 pages, all in full color. Along with each painting that is seen here, there is a brief description telling you the title of the comic it was from, the issue number, and the publication month and year. Some of the more popular comics have a brief description telling you what the general plot of the comic was. The book also has a small section at the front that gives some brief biographical info on Mr. Taglietti.' --Hayes Hudson's House of Horror

L'autore:

Emanuele Taglietti studied stage design at the Experimental Center of Cinematography in Rome. Inspired by the art of Frank Frazetta and Averardo Ciriello, he became a comic book cover artist for such magazines as Playcolt, la Poliziotta, Vampirissimo, and Sexy Favole. His realistic style and ability to cross genres have defined his work. Mark Alfrey is an art collector, a sculptor, and a former award-winning special effects makeup artist for such shows, movies, and artists as Angel, Buffy the Vampire, Men in Black, and Marilyn Manson. He is based in West Hollywood, California.
