Crystal Perkins-Stell was born April 5 in Newark, New Jersey, and raised in Detroit, Michigan by her teenage mother and grandmother. At a very young age, Crystal always vowed to her mom that she would one day accomplish great things. Though her father was not a part of her life from the day she entered this challenging world, Crystal never allowed that void to stop her from making her dreams a reality. For undergrad, Crystal attended Langston University on a partial scholarship. Hoping to one day become a prosecuting attorney, Crystal doubled majored in Psychology and Criminal Justice and graduated with scholastic honors. In 1997, she graduated Summa Cum Laude in one and a half years and obtained her Master's degree in Human Relations, with an emphasis in professional counseling from the University of Oklahoma. She is a blissful dreamer who truly believes that, “Good is not good enough, and her best can always be better.” Crystal is a six-time Who's Who inductee. In May 2004, she received a citation from the Oklahoma State Representative, Kevin Cox for her dedicated community service. Crystal is a proud member of S.I.S.T.A (Sista's Informing Sista's About Topics on Aids, in which she received a governor's citation in the state of Oklahoma for her dedication to AIDS Awareness. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and a 2004, honorary inductee of Tau Beta Sigma National Band Sorority. She is an active member of the Oklahoma Urban League, Southwest Association of Student Assistance Programs, the Oklahoma Division of Students Assistance Programs, Works closely with Youth and Family Services, Advisor for the Black Greek National Pan-Hellenic Council, Advisor for the Young Professionals Club, Co-Advisor for Young Professionals in S.I.F.E. (Students In Free Enterprise), Finance Chair for the Divine Literary Tour, Founder of the M. Alexis Stell Scholarship Fund, CEO of Crystell Publication. She's the first Associate Director in the history of Langston University's Student Support Services Program, which is a TRiO Program that has been on campus for over 26 years, and is involved in various community mentoring and Academic for Excellence programs.
