L'autore:
Janet Muirhead Hill has a deep love and respect for ranch life, animals, and, most of all, children. “Kids are so much wiser than we are,” she says. “They don’t have all the limitations and inhibitions we tend to adopt as we get older.” As a child, Janet developed a fondness for stories and storytelling from her older sister and love and respect for horses and ranch life from her father. When her children were young, she wrote short stories that her kids loved to hear. She began writing books when her grandchildren were small. Her first published novel, Miranda and Starlight, began orally, in answer to her young granddaughter’s request, “Please tell me a story, Nana.” It begins when ten-year-old Miranda Stevens, the young heroine, determines to rescue a two-year-old black stallion she names Starlight. Five more novels continue the saga ending with Starlight Comes Home, which takes place in Miranda’s fourteenth year. Through the eyes and lives of her characters, Janet addresses issues facing today’s youth. Her novel, Danny’s Dragon, tells of loss, grief, coming of age, healing, and triumph through the eyes of a young boy whose father died in the Iraq war. Her latest novel, Kyleah’s Tree, is the first of a trilogy about an eleven-year-old girl who was separated from her twin brother at age four by divorcing parents. The second book, Kendall’s Storm, is her brother’s story, and will be released in 2009. Twins United (working title) will follow and bring Kendall and Kyleah together. Janet continues to write, even as she works full time as president of Raven Publishing, Inc., publisher of “true fiction” by various authors. She conducts workshops on writing and publishing, and talks to young people in schools about self-expression through writing and believing in and pursuing their dreams. She often quotes the words of Napoleon Hill, which have inspired her to persevere in making her dreams come true. “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
