Myron Miller was born and raised in North Irwin, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He received a B.S. in Business Administration at Northwestern University; then earned an M.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University. He then spent two years in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corp. Mr. Miller's business career encompassed positions in financial, marketing, strategic and general management, as well as a series of international business executive positions with Westinghouse Electric, The Singer Company, the Sunbeam Corporation and Sears World Trade. He then founded and managed Global Trade Services, Ltd., which had offices in Washington, DC and Rhode Saint Genese, Belgium. The objectives of his company were to help small and medium sized US companies develop and implement their initial entry into European markets. From Belgium, Myron returned to the US to join the faculty of the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University, where he taught international business and international marketing. In addition, he directed the Michigan International Business Development Center and for his last three years Mr. Miller was Director, Executive Development Programs, the non-degree programs for managers and executives. During his business and academic career, he lived and worked in Puerto Rico, Venezuela, England and Belgium. In total, he has had work experience in over 60 countries. In 2003, he was elected “International Trade Educator of the Year” by the North American Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE) organization for his innovative education programs in the internationalizing of small to medium sized companies. Myron has held leadership positions in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Duke University as a member of the Board of Directors and as the Chair, Strategic Planning for three years. For his service, he received a distinguished service award. Further, he co-taught two courses on “The Foundations of the US Constitution.” Mr. Miller is a member of the Mayflower Society; his eighth great grandfathers are Myles Standish and John Alden. Mr. Miller is also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Mr. Miller wrote The Soul of a Soldier: the True Story of a Mounted Pioneer in the Civil War, published in 2011. That book was based on the 46 letters Samuel K. Miller wrote to his wife during that conflict. His great uncle saved those letters, as he did for this book.
