Don Alexander began a lifelong career in motorsports when he first raced go carts in southern California in 1959. In the ensuing 50 years, Don has raced a wide variety of cars in drag racing, stock car racing, road racing and Bonneville. He has won countless races and several championships, and still holds five land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, driving the Banks Sidewinder diesel pickup truck at speeds over 220 MPH. As an instructor, Don has trained over 10,000 individuals in race driving, suspension set-up, high performance driving and defensive driving. Don's involvement in off roading has stretched over 20 years. He has conducted special events for major manufacturers, tested tires and other 4x4 products, trained individuals and corporate employees in four wheeling classes, produced a series of DVDs and created a local TV program in Big Bear Lake, CA. This book is a culmination of the four wheeling projects Don has worked over the last several years. Don's career as a writer and journalist includes several book on automotive suspensions and also on race driving. His award-winning books include "Think to Win", "Stock Car Driving Techniques", "Performance Handling" and "Formula Car Technology". His automotive magazine articles have appeared in numerous publications, including Motor Trend, Hot Rod, Circle Track, All Chevy, Mustang Illustrated, Truck Trend, Street Rodder, Short Track, Mustangs & Fast Ford, Turbo and many others. Other articles have appeared in Western Boatsman, Multihulls, Cal Catarmaran and Trailer Boats. Don was the editor of Circle Track, Bicycle Rider and the tech editor for Motorhome, Trailer Life and Short Track. On the motorsports front, Don's test driving career has led him across the US driving for Motor Trend, Toyo Tires, Hankook Tires, Suspension Techniques, Progress Group, Gale Banks Engineering and Subaru. He has also been a test driver for several magazines. His racing career has included stints in the IMSA GT series, the Firestone Firehawk Series, and the IMSA Racing Stock series. He drove at Bonneville for Gale Banks, setting several national and internal land speed records driving at a top speed of 222 MPH in the Banks Sidewinder, which from 2002 to 2006 was the world's fastest pickup and is still the fastest diesel powered pickup.
