Gathering Places presents an eclectic collection of anecdotes, family history, and life experiences from author Massey Valentine. He shares the stories of his life and of his family during the difficult years of the Great Depression and the war years that followed. Life on a cotton farm in rural northern Louisiana during his early years was a struggle for his family, who nevertheless taught him the value of hard work, commitment to Christian principles, and love of family and country.
Describing his transition from youth to adulthood, Massey recalls his feelings as he fell in love with a beautiful girl during his college years and married her and describes his career as a mechanical engineer. Most of Massey's engineering analysis was performed at Eglin Air Force Base to support conventional weapons and Air Force technology development.
Including tales of life from a different time, Gathering Places offers an intimate look at the importance of the gathering places where his family came together to talk, read, pray, and learn the lessons that would last a lifetime.
