Larry MacNeill Greer was born in Greenville, South Carolina and raised in Greenville and Georgia. A recipient in 1994 of the American Institute of Public Service Award and in 1998 of the South Carolina Public Service Award, his career spanned 50 years in sales and marketing in the food industry. As a history buff, he is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and Sons of the Confederacy. His contribution to charities is unprecedented, as one of the founders of the Bi-Lo Charity Golf Classic, which has funneled more than $63 million into charities. Larry and his wife of 56 years, Maxine, live in the upstate of South Carolina on Lake Keowee. They have two children and three grandchildren.
