After he left Hong Kong he took a flight to Moscow where he sought political asylum from Russia and several other countries. This story shows what the instantaneous spread of news by Internet can do in the year 2013. The Internet news is relayed immediately to global television programs. Snowden, the NSA leaker, hid in the Moscow Airport Transit Lounge in late June and early July 2013 waiting for political asylum to avoid extradition to the US.Many Americans are concerned about expanding government surveillance, particularly the practice of gobbling up vast amounts of data on people without a specific warrant. Greenwald's first report of Snowden's worries about widespread surveillance displayed that Snowden had a technician’s view rather than a strategic view of what the surveillance was meant to accomplish. The simple fact of what happened is Snowden stole Top Secret information and disclosed the information to the general public.
