This collection is an aggregate of work from the members of Speak Out Loud, a Spoken Word community at Harvard. Covering a wide range of topics brought out from the depths of our incredible poets, these poems take on a life of their own. These are pieces that the SOL community treasures and hope the readers will too, as “Tightrope Writing” opens a window into the breath-taking poetry we create together. We appreciate those who take the time to read what so many took the time to write. Speak Out Loud is community. It is made up of spoken word poets and poet aficionados. SOL poetry often deals with personal experiences, and issues of gender, sexuality, and race. But no stone is left uncovered—all corners of the conceptual world are lit by the breathe of our poets. We welcome all, and love newcomers. Events and collaborations are open to all. Strap yourself in and listen as these poems invoke rare thoughts and waves of emotions.
