Joseph Crachiola's career in photography began in the early seventies at a small newspaper in Michigan. During his career he has worked as a photojournalist, a corporate photographer, and a photography instructor. He has created assignment work for newspapers, magazines, wire services, annual reports, advertising agencies, public relations firms, and non-profit organizations. His work has been exhibited in many galleries, including the Cranbrook Art Museum (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan), Detroit Artists Market, Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center (Detroit), River’s Edge Gallery (Wyandotte, Michigan), and others. His work is held in several private and corporate collections, and is included in the permanent collections of the University of Michigan Museum of Art, the Kresge Museum at Michigan State University, the Mira Godard Collection at the Ryerson Museum, Toronto, Canada and the Detroit Institute of Arts. He currently lives and works in New Orleans, Louisiana.
