Donna Watkins is an Arkansas wordsmith who pens words to books and songs. Her repertoire of writings span several genres which include children’s books and songs, a variety of cookbooks, gardening books, short stories, and adult fiction. She is a Member of SCBWI, NEA Writers Group, and, Heartland Writers Guild. Her career credentials and experiences include: CDM/CFPP, Master Gardener, 20+ years career in field of nutrition. Attendance at ASU included course work in creative writing. Writing has been her lifelong passion and she believes reading and writing open the gates to curiosity and imagination where anything is possible. Donna writes with the anticipation and hope that her words might inform, inspire, and entertain those who pause to read them. Her desires are that her family treasures cookbooks will inspire families to once again enjoy meals together at home, her Kid’s Gardening Book will develop a love for growing food, her Tween/Teen Cookbook will be the springboard for the next generation of great chefs, and her Children’s Books will encourage a love for reading/writing. The core of her writings for children resonate themes of goal setting, growth, responsibility, and respect for both others and the environment. The Children’s Books are intermingled with enough non-fiction subject based materials to make them suitable resources for most curriculums (Science, Social Studies, Literature, Math, more). New songs and video/song combo CD/DVD are available as companions for some children’s books. Ms. Watkins is available for scheduled book readings and presentations at schools and libraries. She is also available for book discussions at book clubs and small writing workshops for both children and adults upon schedule availability.
