Bobby Dougherty’s autobiography is a haunting real life journey that starts with a less-than-fighting chance on the inner city streets of Detroit during the 1960’s Race Riots. Told simply and in the raw matter-of-fact manner of the author himself, The Robert Dougherty Story weaves through five decades of escalating hardship, graphically detailing all things essential to an engaging life story...plus sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. Bobby’s spiraling descent into a seedy reality of addiction, homelessness, crime, and death comes punishingly full circle. His chameleon-like ability to adapt seamlessly through this maze of hardships and still survive is both a triumph and an inspiration. With a life altering illness and a second chance at sobriety, Bobby’s hard-won climb to redemption and reconciliation lead to a reverent perspective, a spiritual awakening and ultimately, personal freedom.
