So, is it OK to like baseball? Is it OK to love baseball? As a Christian – where does baseball fit into my life? How does the Lord feel about my dedication to the game? "Important questions, with not such easy answers. More deeply: does baseball take the place of the Lord in my life? How far can I go enjoying it without making it an idol? Maybe these are questions we don’t want to pursue- but they cannot be ignored. " Author Joe Scotto once actually hated baseball! But, as anyone who knows him now will agree, he fell in love with the game as a young boy and still loves it today. It all started, as it has started in the hearts of many young American boys, with a visit to a Major League Ballpark. When his Dad took him to his first Phillies game at Connie Mack Stadium in August of 1966, he became a lifetime fan. Not only did he become a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, but he became a fan of the Great American Game. The Game continued to have a profound effect on his life, including six years in the Plymouth Township (PA) Little League as a player, five years as a coach and manager in Little League, and ten seasons as manager of his high school baseball team, the Bible Baptist Bobcats of Shiremanstown, PA. Joe Scotto continues his role as a Science teacher at Bible Baptist (now the West Shore Christian Academy) for over 30 years. He is the husband of his beautiful wife, Donna, and the father of his two sons, Travis and Curtis, living in Mechanicsburg, PA. In this book, he would like to share his love for baseball, but, what is infinitely more important, his love for the Lord Jesus.
