Joe Cox, Jr. has been a student, teacher, and administrator. He has been a Superintendent of Schools in California and now in Virginia. The novel Cinnamon Snarl™ has been two years in the making. An education based novel, it is Joe’s attempt to champion public schools and the everyday challenges that educators face. In particular, Joe has tried to capture the “cry” that he continually hears from teachers, students, parents, and administrators in regards to the “gotcha” that mandated standardized testing has become. The alliance between USED, testing and publishing houses, print and digital media, and universities is featured and detailed. The harm being done to our nation’s students and teachers is shameful. This novel is an effort to “tell their story.” Not a novelist by trade, Joe is an educator and very proud of it. Joe has dedicated much of his life to public education.
