Jake and Peter have now been together for one-and-a-half years. During that time they have faced many difficult challenges but won each as a team. The most recent one was when Peter was taken by the State of New York. They had been separated for six weeks, but as a result, Peter became Jake's legally adopted grandson. Now they are about to meet several new challenges. For one, Jake plans to retire from the trucking industry in July of 2003 and plans to buy an RV. Marriage is still a possibility. They also plan to write a book. Peter is concerned about coming off the road in the big truck. After all, he's as free a spirit as Jake is. But he's looking forward to getting back on the road in an RV; especially when he learns that it will have a toilet and a shower in it. Now with an RV, Jake and Peter will be able to do more camping and fishing. They will be able to meet more families with kids. They will be able to visit many places they weren't able to get to with a big truck. The possibilities are endless for new and exciting adventures. Author Doug White is a former school teacher and camp counselor, but always had an eye for the open road. He drove a big truck cross-country for thirteen years. He started writing in 1999, turned in his big truck for good in 2003, bought an RV and hasn't looked back. He is a graduate of Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Va. and a graduate of Ashland College (now Ashland University) in Ashland, Ohio. Doug is New York State JCI Senator #32834. He resides in Orchard Park, New York. During his free times he enjoys camping, canoeing and fishing.
