Raywat Deonandan's short stories have appeared in several countries, including Canada the United States, England and China. He is author ofSweet Like Saltwater which won the Guyana Prize for Best First Work. He has also won two Hart House Literary Prizes and First Prize in the 1995 Canadian Author's Association National Student Short Story Contest. Of Indian ancestry, Guyanese origin and Canadian citizenship, Deonandan now makes Toronto his home.
