The word "unbelievable" defines the life of Dr. Harrison Miller Moseley. As a testament to grit, determination and faith, Dr. Moseley's life exemplifies the good that can come from facing and surviving extremely challenging circumstances. As his biography reveals, his astonishing life had a purpose. Emerging from humble beginnings, Miller Moseley experienced multiple tragedies while growing up in North Texas, and survived the Great Depression. The tribulations and obstacles he endured formed in him the determination and unstoppable fortitude needed to live out an incredible life. From playing left end for the famed 1938 Fort Worth Masonic Home Masons football team, being handpicked by Nathan Rosen to assist on the Manhattan Project, and teaching for forty years at Texas Christian University, Dr. Harrison Miller Moseley's story, like his life, is truly unbelievable!

Recensione:
Unbelievable, the story of Dr. Harrison Miller Moseley ("Miller"), demonstrates that where and how you start in life does not determine where you go or where you end up. This biography begins with a small quiet boy on the plains of Texas in 1921 and chronicles his life from the love and security of family to losing his father and being forced into an orphanage by the financial pressures of the Great Depression. As young man Miller experiences the same kinds of tumultuous life events that are often given credit for creating aimless and sometimes criminal adults, but not so for Miller. Read this book to see how Miller rises from the worst that life can offer to becoming a person who offered the best of life to those around him becoming a key part of the famous Manhattan Project standing shoulder to shoulder with some of American history's most brilliant minds. Author Stella Brooks in her first published work achieves an informing and warm balance between presenting biographical facts and connecting the reader to Harrison Miller Moseley. The book is written in third person as is typical with biographies but the authors approach to connecting the reader with Miller's thoughts and emotions brings the reader into the story as though they were watching it unfold before their eyes. Her presentation of the 1938 Masonic Home football season made me feel as though I were watching a Texas high school football shootout. I was unable to put the book down until the account of the season ended. It is obvious to the reader that this book was well researched and that much of the information was provided to the author through her first hand interviews with Dr. Moseley and his "brothers" from the Masonic Home. By the time the last page is read it is clear this story was told not only with paper, pen, and ink but also with heart. A true account of Miller's life and the Masonic Home could not be successfully told in any other way.
