We might describe him as the poet of wall, vestiges, bare spaces, and small objects. His observant vision of the world is the product of a sensibility rooted in reality yet charged with trascendent symbolic meaning. This book is published on the occasion of an exhibition at the Fundación Foto Colectania in Barcelona, an organization which since 2001 has safeguarded, administered and disseminated the work of Paco Gómez. The exhibition is the result of intense research by the curator Laura Terré, a specialist in Spanish photography, and includes some never before published photographs, along with Gómez's more familiar images.

Related in his poetics and conception of form to several of his near contemporaries, he also brings to mind-owing to his subject matter and originality-such celebrated international figures as Aaron Siskind, Brassai, Edward Weston, and Paul Strand. All of the works gathered in this book are reproduced from original photographs supervised and acknowledged by the photographer himself. They are images that were displayed or published in various catalogues and periodical publications, most of them during the photographer's lifetime, and have been recognized as undisputed masterpieces. The design and layout of this exquisite book have been inspired by the Spanish magazines and publication of the 1960s.
