Hoffmann, Thomas More, Dante, Goethe, Benvenuto Cellini, and the letters of Mozart. He received more publicity for the numerous front page illustrations he made for Der Spiegel in the 1980s. Contains 177 pp German text with colour lithograph to each right hand leaf. Loosely inserted SIGNED colour lithograph. Sadly old tea or coffee stains throughout the book including the two left corners of the lithograph, pasted image missing from the front cover. Member of the P.B.F.A. ART [German].

First edition published June 1938 on the copyright leaf with no other printings noted. Hard back binding in publisher's original biscuit buckram cloth covered boards, blocked and lettered dark green back and front, blue and white seagull illustrated end papers, top edge dyed dark green. 8vo. 9'' x 6''. Contains colour frontispiece, 394 + [i] pp with 13 further full-page single-sided colour plates throughout. Very Good condition book in Good condition dust wrapper with shallow rubs and small closed tears to the spine ends and corners, not price clipped, $2.00. Dust wrapper protected.
