Fitziames Stuart, Gioach. Fernandez Portocarrero. L'opera è riccamente illustrata da 3 vignette ai titoli, 38 iniziali incise, 40 testatine e finaletti, 16 incisioni n.t. (9 a piena pag.) e 33 tavole f.t. (5 ripiegate) e contiene complessivamente 33 dotte dissertazioni per lo più concernenti le origini, la storia e le antichità etrusche e romane, con particolare attenzione a monumenti ed iscrizioni di città toscane e laziali (origine, alfabeto e lingua degli Etruschi, medaglie maltesi, aruspicina toscana, bilance degli antichi, statue del Campidoglio, anfiteatri toscani ed in specie quello di Arezzo, ecc.). Tra gli autori spiccano i nomi di Ridolfino e Filippo Venuti, Simone Peruzzi, Giov. Lami, Franc. Valesio, Nic. Vagnucci, Lor. Guazzesi, Lod. Ant. Muratori, Ant. Cocchi, Scip. Maffei, ecc. Raccolta di notevole interesse e pregio dei tre primi volumi, i più estesi e importanti della collezione, a sé stanti, e rari. I "Saggi" si pubblicarono fino al 1791, arrivando a comprendere 9 tomi.
