Libro Prima edizione Copia autografata
Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition ('First Published 1964'). As far as I can tell, this will be the Only copy of this book signed by John Myers for sale on the Internet. Myers worked as a dentist in London and took up spirit photography in the 1930s. He claimed to communicate with an American Indian spirit guide called Blackfoot. He was accused of fraud by several different people. Maurice Barbanell was a spiritualist and the editor of Psychic News. In this book he defends Myers, contending that his physical phenomena was genuine. Simeon Edmunds, a British psychical researcher and writer on hypnotism, and a skeptic on spiritualism, criticized both Myers and Barbanell. Myers was also a painter. Marilyn Monroe sat for a portrait (which is included in the book). According to the author they became good friends and Myers 'several times gave her healing'. He claimed that she returned to him several times after her death insisting that her death had been an accident, not a suicide. Here is a quote from a website called psychic truth: 'The name of John Myers is one that can undoubtedly be associated with both spectacular physical phenomena and the evidence these can supply. In 1964, Maurice Barbanell completed his book about John's mediumship, and he rightly summarizes John as someone who "continues to be that rarity among human beings, one who walks in two worlds at the same time".' You can see the green covers in the photos. They have a little bit of wear, but are in generally very good condition. The wear consists of the following: two tiny spots on the front cover where the green color has faded and the underlying white thread is visible (see first photo), light rubbing at the corners and bottom edges (but just one tiny spot of rub-through at the bottom rear corner), a little rubbing and color fade at the spine ends, a few light scratches and a tiny white spot on the rear cover. The gilt lettering on the spine is very bright. The top page edge is green. All three page edges are quite clean. The book is square, straight and solidly bound. The interior of the book is in excellent condition. The pages are exceptionally clean. I didn't see any soiling or staining. The pages aren't creased. There aren't any dogeared corners. There aren't any markings. No attachments. And with the exception of John Myers signed inscription on the first front end paper, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. There are seventeen 'plates'. All of them are in excellent condition. And I didn't see any foxing, despite a good number of glossy pages (plates). Signed by Author(s).

Editore: Letter from Naylor to Gordon: On his letterhead 43 Museum Street London WC1. 21 January Horoscope dating from a round the same time. Report of trial undated March 1936, 1941
Da: Richard M. Ford Ltd, London, Regno Unito
Manoscritto / Collezionismo cartaceo Copia autografata
Three items from the papers of John Gordon, editor of the Daily Express. The first two in good condition, lightly aged and creased; the third creased and torn, with slight loss to text. ONE: Typed Letter Signed ('R. H. N.') from Naylor to Gordon. 1p., 12mo. Headed 'Confidential'. He writes: 'Having drawn up an Astrological Chart for the time of the official inauguration of Roosevelt's Third Term I find some queer indications there. To me they are tremendously interesting and as I think you might find them interesting too I am sending you a copy of the notes I have filed. | By this time I suppose you will regard me as the SUNDAY TIMES Jeremiah, but there you are! | Please let me know if this reaches you safely.' TWO: Typed Horoscope, signed by Naylor ('R H R'), and headed 'President Roosevelt's Third Term of Office'. Begins: 'According to the wireless broadcasts the inauguration ceremony commenced at noon, Washington. The President actually finished affirmation of his oath at 12.11 p.m. Local Standard Time (or 5.11 p.m. G.M.T.). From the Astrological Chart drawn for that time and place, the following conclusions may be drawn'. Six numbered paragraphs follow, the first three headed: 'The President will not complete his Third Term of Office', 'During the President's tenure of office terrific political strife will develop' and 'Roosevelt will, however, become one of the three leading figures in the World and earn an outstanding place in war history.' THREE: Copy of Typed report of Naylor's trial for fortune telling. 5pp., 4to. Headed '"Fortune Telling" Summonses. | Newspaper Test Case.', with 'Banks' in the top right-hand corner of the first page. Substantially the same as the report published in The Times, 14 March 1936, under the heading "Fortune Telling" Sumonses | Charges Dismissed'. The case brought by Maurice Barbanell against Naylor for fortune telling, under the Vagrancy Act of 1824, was dismissed following some amusing exchanges. Barbanell was the spirit medium 'Silver Birch', and editor of 'Psychic News'. Note: "In 1930, he commissioned R. H. Naylor to write a horoscope for the birth of Princess Margaret. This proved popular, and Gordon retained it as a regular feature - the first regular newspaper horoscope." (Wikipedia).
