Pages 24 to 33 carry the article, written by don Cook - includes lots of colour photographs including the new Mirage IV fighter jet. Original cover price ten cents down from the regular 20. My favourite cartoon is of two farm yard turkeys wondering why the farmer is being so nice to them. Others articles on Joseph Valachi, Romy Schneider and the Colorado Springs military academy. Lots of advertisements such as the Marlboro man and one for the movie (Sandra Dee ) `Take Her She's Mine '. Cond : Back cover is a coke ad, staples tight, no spine roll. Mimimal soiling, minimal wear, no tears, nor creases. Decidedly collectible !! Quote (p. 31) : " The planners have done their work well, France has maintained an economic expansion rate averaging seven percent per year for the past five years, and even in the current slowing down all over Europe, the french expect another . ." SUBTITLED ; ` Escape Tales by Airmen in the Korean War '. 247 pages with a small section of b/w photos at page 88. The survival tales of 4 soldeiers who were held behind enemy lines are told in gritty detail. The 4 are: Schinz, Thomas, Shadduck and Summersill. Supporting `cast' variously included : Wayne Sawyer, Old Papasan, and Jack Gauldin. Wounds, food, mental fatigue and escaping detection were the most fought battles for these men. To aid in this latter some participants in the war carried a pointee- takie. This is somewhat self-explanitory - if not see page 113. Learn also about : blood-chit, dead-stick, smoke-rocket and DDT. Travel to Andong, Pusan and Pyongyang. Cond : Boards are blue with gilt lettering -spine only. End-papers are regional maps: Mancuria to Pusan, South Korea. Dust jacket is black with blue tones. lettering is white. D.J. graphic shows a pilot observing a parachute landing. D.J. has edgewhere at all edges - esp. spine top. (D.J. now protected in mylar cover.) Hinges tho' are crisp. D.J. is price-clipped. Both volume and d.j are bright and clean. P/O name has been blacked out on the front map. No marks in text block, no tears in volume. Tight in binding. Very collectible ! ! Quote (p. 58) : " Summersill tried to glide as far from the Chinese troops as possible. But the plane dropped fast. Within seconds, he was pulling back on the stick to dodge a huge boulder. The plane slid onto a large, upward sloping granite slab and skidded along for ._._._. ." Size: Octavo.
