First edition. First edition. 9 3/4" x 11 1/8" color decorated, stiff wrappers, 15 [1] pp., introductory, illustrated in color. Totally and beautifully illustrated, specifications and information are provided. "The Marquette Six, built by Buick brings to its price field new standards of excellence, new heights of performance, and new conceptions of style and beauty." The line-up includes the Marquette - 5 passenger, 4 door sedan Model 37; Marquette 5-passenger 2-door sedan Model 30; Marquette 2-passenger Business Coupe - Model 36; Marquette 4-passenger special coupe - Model 36-S; Marquette 4-passenger sport roadster - Model 34; Marquette 5-passenger Phaeton - Model 35. The Marquette nameplate was revived when the Buick Division of General Motors launched their own sister make for model year 1930. Along with Viking and LaSalle, the Marquette was conceived to span a price gap in General Motors' market segmentation plan, and shared the GM B platform. Marquette was placed below Buick, but above Viking which was to be sold in Oldsmobile dealerships. The Marquette "arrived" in dealer showrooms on June 1, 1929. It was introduced as a new smaller Buick and designed to bridge the price gap between Buick and Oldsmobile. Prices ranged from $990.00 for the Business Coupe to $1,060.00 for the Sedan. The Marquette lasted one year and was discontinued at the end of 1930. The reason given for its closing was that its sales interfered with competing Oldsmobile vehicles. This is a scarce booklet as it was issued for only one year, 1929. Automobile dealer stamp at the bottom of the title page, modest wear and soiling to the covers, else a near fine bright copy.
