It was the man, Dorsey Patton McDaniel born in Iowa in 1870. Some big names, in Western Canadian history : Arthur Pelkey, James Lougheed, Pat Burns, Henry Wise Wood, and Charlie Russell appear in these 286 pages. But also appearing are Alfred Gough, James Fong, Jens Jensen, and Rollie Crowe. McDaniel was a cattleman by trade but like many Albertans he had a finger in the oil patch too - see Rose Oil. TEXT assisted by many b/w (sepia) photographs, one map, plenty of footnotes, a Family Tree, and index. Cond : Paper wrapper is brown with black spine stripe, and white lettering. Front cover graphic is a photo portrait of a seated Dorsey -1916. . Volume square and tight, colours bright. No marks, tears, stains, names, nor creases. Collectible !! Excellent read about early Alberta history and history makers. Quote (p. 211) : " . he would lend them a helping hand. Young Rod remembers the family going down to visit the Macleays oin the thirties and they stopped by the Weadicks in High River to have lunch.
