Bristol: John Wright and Sons Ltd.; London: Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent & Co. Ltd., 1917, 8°, (8), 91, (1) pp., with 5 coloured plates and 4 Illustrations, orig. cloth. First Edition! Cecil Price-Jones (1863-1943) British haematologist and pathologist. He became known for his work on the size of red blood cells (erythrocytes). He was trained as a doctor at University College and Guy's Hospital in London. He then worked in his father's practice in Surbiton. After his father's death, he gave up general practice and turned to pathology. He worked in this discipline first at Guy's Hospital and then, after the First World War, at University College Hospital. His research focused on the size of red blood cells (erythrocytes), the individual characteristics of their size distribution and corresponding changes in various diseases. He developed various methods for counting erythrocytes and determining their size and haemoglobin content. The Price-Jones curve, which describes the size distribution of erythrocytes based on their diameter, is named after him. His other research activities included bacteriological studies in cancer and studies on experimental physiology.

Libro Prima edizione
London, Humphrey Milford, Oxford University Press, 1933, 8°, (4), 82, (1) pp., 44 Figs., orig. Leinenband. First Edition! Cecil Price-Jones (1863-1943) was a British haematologist and pathologist. He became known for his work on the size of red blood cells (erythrocytes). His further research activities included bacteriological investigations in cancer diseases as well as studies on experimental physiology. He described already in "The variation in the sizes of red blood cells" (Brit. med. J., 2, 1418-19, 1910) a method for the direct measurement of red blood cells and he first proposed using the Price-Jones curve in a 1922 paper called "The diameters of red cells in pernicious anaemia and in anaemia following haemorrhage" (The Journal of Pathology and Bacteriology. 25 (4): 487-504). It has been used for assessing red blood cells since then. Garrison & Morton No. 901 (1910) "See also his book, Red blood cell diameters, London, 1933".
