xciii, 402pp 22x15, cloth, glt lettering. Cloth marked, title page and one other marked (possibly with plaster) but clear and legible, a few pencil lines in margin of introduction, generally good for a working copy. While this is the third edition, the first and second editions in 1871 and 1872 were essentially pamphlets, issued by the South Kensington Museum as part of an attempt to compile a full list of examples of wall paintings. The response to these two pamphlets was sufficiently large to lead to this much fuller third edition. Keyser was a stockbroker and amateur expert on church architecture who had been appointed to the Society of Antiquaries in recognition of his work.
