Boards have slight edge wear but are otherwise unmarked. Page edges are browned with some staining near the bottom of the fore edges. The previous owners name is on the front free endpaper - this was Elizabeth Cockcroft, daughter of Sir John Cockcroft the Nobel Prize winner. The pages are a little browned but otherwise clean and unmarked. Price-clipped jacket has some staining along the outer edges of the front and rear panels, a half-inch closed tear to the bottom edge of the rear panel, fading to the spine and light chipping to the top and bottom of spine. Third edition, revised and enlarged (hardback). 12mo (19cm by 13cm), xix, 744pp. Original brown morocco spine, brown cloth boards, gilt titling to the spine, top edge gilt. The spine is heavily rubbed, there is some bumping tot he corners of the boards, and the endpapers are foxed. Only a good minus copy overall, but suitable as a reading, working or reference copy.
