Fotoillustriertes Softcover. It is a place where nothing is quite as it seems to be - it comes alive at night, when all is lit by artificial light and the moon is just ornamentation." Condizione: Wie neu. Steidl, Gottingen. 2010. First edition, first printing. New mint, unread; originally shrink-wrapped in plastic foil. Softcover. 210 x 295 mm. 48 pages. 60 black & white and colour images. Edited and with texts by Deepak Ananth. Text in English. Perfect condition! Collector`s copy! Singh is maker of "Privacy" (Martin Parr, The Photobook, vol 2, page 124/125). "This book accompanies a travelling exhibition of the work of two well-known Indian photographers, Raghubir Singh and Dayanita Singh. Curated by the art historian and critic, Deepak Ananth, the exhibition has been organised in collaboration with Hermès, Paris. Raghubir Singh`s photographs in The Home and the World focus on the Ambassador, the iconic car inherited from the British. In these photographs, shot mostly in the last years of his life, the doors and windshield of the car become the frame to the image. In some, black planes block out large parts of the image; the result is a series of almost abstract photographs. Dayanita Singh`s work is taken from two recent Steidl books. In Go Away Closer Singh considers opposites in India: presence and absence, reality and dreams, tradition and progress. Such opposites are ultimately irreconcilable, as embodied by the paradox of the book`s title. Singh embraces this uncertainty, and presents visual clues in her photographs into which the viewer can read his or her own biography. Sent A Letter brings together eight of Singh`s small photo journals of her travels in India over recent years. Each book was made with a certain person in mind, either someone she has made the journey with or that was on her mind on her travels. The diaries are in accordion folds and each opens into a mini private exhibition." (from the publisher) Dayanita Singh was born in New Delhi in 1961. Softcover. Condizione: gut. 2003. In deutscher Sprache. 112 pages.

Condizione: Wie neu. Steidl, Göttingen. 2006. First edition, first printing. New, mint, unread. Paperback (as issued). 160 x 200 mm. 32 pages. Text in English. Perfect condition! Collector`s copy! Dayanita Singh is famous for "Privacy" (Martin Parr, The Photobook, vol 2, page 124/125. 802 photo books by the M.+M. Auer collection, page 784). "Go Away Closer is a novel without words. It concerns series of opposites in Singh`s India: presence and absence, reality and dreams, tradition and progress. She is able to express the emotion underlying these often abstract concepts, because her photography springs from her own intimate experiences. For example, Singh establishes a connection between her personal losses, and the collective sadness due to lost traditions in the face of technology. Such opposites are ultimately irreconcilable, as embodied by the paradox of the book`s title. Singh embraces this uncertainty, and presents visual clues in her photographs into which the viewer can read his or her own biography. Go Away Closer - like all of Singh`s books - is not about answering questions, but considering the emotion fabric from which they arise." (from the publisher)***************Steidl, Göttingen. 2006.
