Disbound lacking the half-title. Author of 'Six letters from A----d B----r . ' = John Douglas, Bishop of Salisbury. Price Eighteen-pence. Six letters from A-d B-r to Father Sheldon' was an attack on Archibald Bower by Bishop John Douglas. In this tract Douglas proved the genuineness of the letters; showed that want of veracity was not the only defect in Bower's character, but that he was as little remarkable for his chastity as for his love of truth; and brought forward the attestation of Mrs. Hoyles.ESTC T86858 Bound with;Mr. Bower's Affidavit. 49pp., lacking the title page. ESTC T86847The Seven Years War was a global conflict which ran from 1754 until 1763 and pitted a coalition of Great Britain and its allies against a coalition of France and its allies. The war escalated from a regional conflict between Great Britain and France in North America, known today as the French and Indian War.

The letter was written by the Bishop of Salisbury under the direction of his patron, Lord Bath. The two great men referred to in the title are William Pitt and the Duke of Newcastle. Douglas outlines the French transgressions of the Treaty of Utrecht and their encroachments in Acadia and Ohio, and discusses the conduct of the war in Canada and Nova Scotia, the capture of Quebec and the death of Wolfe.
