The author relates the story of this ancient settlement from its earliest times to the present day. She places the local scene in a national context, so that the reader may gain a fuller understanding of Teignmouth's history. Grace Griffiths has lived and worked in Teignmouth for most of her life. Her book should interest long-standing residents and newcomers alike. It includes appendices on Ringmore, Shaldon and Labrador, local legends, and names and derivations. Ref M3.
