The most interesting feature of this 173 page volume is that Chapter 36, 10 pages, is a person by person account (with addresses,ages, and occupations) of residents of the district for 1919 - constructed specifically for geneaologists. Beyond that there are the usual fires, churches, schools and manufacturing facilities. Plenty on both major wars. TEXT assisted by b/w photographs. Two maps opposite page 16. Learn about : Bush fiddles, United Farmers, cheese makers, harness makers, sad irons, Harvest Excursions, and Michel Boshey. Signed by the author on title page. Cond : Boards are bright orange with black lettering. Issued w/o dust jacket (?). End-papers are white. Volume is clean, tight, square and bright. No names, marks, creases,stains, bumps, nor tears. Excellent Ontario history reference. Quote (p. 31) : " A farmer bought only essential machinery, and paid cash for them. Of course it was harder physical work to make hay with a horse drawn mower, a dump rake and a waggon and a pitchfork than it is to make hay with modern machinery, BUT the modern farmer has to ._._._. ."
